GANI BAJRAKTARI
MD, MSc, DSc, PhD, PhD, FESC, FACC
Prof. Bajraktari graduated at Medical School, University of Prishtina in 1990. He finished his Internal Medicine – Cardiology internship at University Hospital Center “Mother Teresa” (Tirana, Albania) in 1997.
He underwent several Clinical and Echocardiography Fellowships in Italy (Bassano del Grappa Hospital, Magenta Public Hospital and “Niguarda CaʹGranda Hospital”-Milan), France (General Public Hospital of Annemasse) and Zagreb (Rebro Clinical Centre). He underwent also an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Silesian Centre for Heart Diseases in Zabrze, Poland.
He finished Postgraduate studies and defended Master Thesis (at Medical Faculty, University of Zagreb, Croatia), in the field of stress-echocardiography.
He defended three PhDs in the field of Clinical Cardiology: at Medical Faculty, University of Prishtina (2002), at Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary (2006), and at Umea University, Umea, Sweden (2014).
He is currently Full Professor of Internal Medicine – Cardiology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Prishtina, President of Kosovo society of Cardiology, Head of the Working Group of Heart Failure (Kosovo Society of Cardiology), and post-doc researcher at Department of Public Health and Clinical Medicine (Umea University, Sweden).
Professor Bajraktari was Dean of Medical Faculty, University of Prishtina, from 2009 to 2011. He was Director of Internal Medicine Clinic (in two mandates) and Director of the Clinic of Cardiology at the University Clinical Centre of Kosova. He was Head of Internal Medicine Department, at Medical Faculty of the University of Prishtina (2012-2017).
He is a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC), and Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC).
He is currently Member of the Editorial of Board of Journal of Clinical Medicine and reviewer of several international peer-reviewed journals.
He was National Coordinator and Steering Committee Member of six registries at EURObservational Research Programme from the European Society of Cardiology.
Prof. Bajraktari has published over 100 indexed articles and has presented over 300 lectures/chairmanships at national and mostly international meetings.
His main areas of interest are ischemic heart disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, cardiovascular imaging.
Professor Bajraktari was awarded with the Price “Scientist of the Year 2014” by Ministry of Education, Republic of Kosovo.
